Tutorials: Wireframe To Solid (Animationable)

Difference: You can see that we have two "Wireframe To Solid" tutorials, but this one is also called Animationable. That is because you can use that transition in animations. :)) So, let get started...

1. Start your 3D Studio Max

2. First we create a sphere. (or geosphere)

3. Make it as big as you want it.

4. Now, select (geo)sphere and clone it with copy command as showed in picture. You can do it either going to Edit>Clone menu or just holding shift and clicking again on (geo)sphere.

5. Make (geo)sphere01 bigger for 1%, and now start making materials.

6. Open Material editor (M).

7. Left-click the Diffuse color swatch and set the RGB values to 30, 0, 255.(Blue)

8. Now, Check wire and 2-sided option like showed on pic.

9. Name it WireFrame Red.

10. So you created first material.

11. Click on second sample sphere.

12. Left-click the "Standard" button to pick the material type and change the setting from standard to top/Bottom.

13. Choose the top material button and left click the diffuse color swatch andsetthe RGB values to 255, 0, 0. (Red)

14. Set the opacity to 0.

15. Left click the Go To Parent button

16. Choose the bottom material button and set the Diffuse RGB setting 255, 0, 0.

17. Left click the Go To Parent button

18. Set the Blend value in the Top/Bottom Basic Parameters rollout to 10

19. Change the Position value to 70

20. Name this material HalfSolid.

21. Select the bigger (geo)sphere01 and apply HalfSolid material to it.

22. Now select smaller (geo)sphere02 and apply WireFrame Red material to it.

23. Render.
